I am assisting the Cumberland County (Maine) Sheriffs Dept. in their attempts to learn about Ebenezer Parker, the first law enforcement officer to be killed in the line of duty in 1808.  This information is primarily for their use during the 250th Anniversary of the County.  The Department very much would like to honor him but only know his father was Nathaniel Parker and the family lived in Gorham, Maine for a time.  Ebenezer married a Mary Lerabee in 1805 and is listed as being "of" Cape Elizabeth, Maine at that time.  So far no record has been found as to where he may be buried.

He was murdered by a Joseph Drew who was hanged for the crime in July 1808 in Portland, Maine.
