Deming in England but supposedly coming from Picadie

Hi,
various people claim that the Demings of Essex, GB and the US were French Huguenots from Picardie but no one gives any sources as to this information. They claim that the French name was De Ming and that this became Deming in England. I have my doubts but don't know how to prove it. The time period is the 16th & 17th century but Ming is certainly not French. What could the original French name have been? I see de Mi *** etc versions out there but where did the NG come from? Anybody have any clues?
