The program just launched so there are still relatively few people's DNA in the database and therefore little chance of getting a match until more people join. I uploaded my data and my spouse's on the first day and we had a match by the next morning, which surprised me.

We had a server slowdown but it's now fixed and all the uploads will be released.

Hi!
Do you need a family tree to be able to see the matches if you download your raw data?
Thank you.

No. The uploading of raw data and matching appears to be independent of family trees.

No, you don't need to have a family tree.

I am happy that you have added DNA matching to your website!
Suggestion: I think that that it would be very useful if more details were provided than just the percentage... i.e. Total Shared DNA (cM), the longest DNA segment shared (cM), and the number of shared segments. I am aware that the DNA Matching at Geneanet is less than a week old and possibly more features will be added in the future.
Question: Does the percentage of DNA shared value remove segments less than 7cM from the calculation or does it include all the segments regardless of size in the calculation?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

It is so important to get an explanation of what is included in the % match. I was very surprised to get a match on the second day that wasn't one of the three different kits that I uploaded.
For anyone trying to work out what the % means, use the Shared cM Tool here
https://dnapainter.com/tools/sharedcmv4
But for that to be really useful it is so important to know if the % relates to one segment or the total number of segments as and mentioned above the cut-off number for cM not included. e.g. I now have a match of 0.22% which equates to just 16 cM - not high but potentially worth pursuing. Knowing that cut-off point and whether this 0.22% includes multiple segments will help with the decision on the value of spending a lot of time trying to work out the connection.

Total Shared DNA (cM), etc. will be added soon.
Segments less than 7cM are not taken into account in the calculation except if the total length of the segments is bigger than 14cM.

Hello
Your guidelines say you don't accept .zip or .txt files, but Ancestry delivers the downloaded raw DNA file as a .txt file within a zip file. I'm unsure how to proceed. Can you advise which one I should choose please?
Many thanks.
